Education In Rural Areas

A country which can make its rural and backward areas develop, should have a right to be called as “Developed”. The development of rural and backward areas signifies that the root has to be made strong enough to be able to grow high.

The development of any region starts with the development of the people. For the development of people the most important factor is “Education”. The educated people can further make development programmes for themselves as well as others. Indian Government has also made many schemes and programmes for the development of people especially in the rural areas. The Right To Education Act (http://righttoeducation.in/know-your-rte/about) is a fundamental right provided by the Government of India. The abstract idea of this act is definitely a good step but its implementation has not been perfectly acquired.

According to Annual Status of Education Report(ASER) survey, 2018, among the students attending the rural schools, more than 50% of students of standard 5th cannot read a 2nd standard textbook properly and cannot solve basic mathematical problems. Some schools have a very less number of students even after a large population of children in the region. Some schools on the other hand are overloaded with students which creates a disbalance in the student-teacher ratio.

More than 50% of government schools established in rural areas do not have basic facilities of infrastructure such as toilets, drinking water, classrooms, etc.

Such situations prevailing in rural areas are a major threat to India’s future. That is why many Non-Governmental Organizations and Private Ventures have taken a step ahead to educate children in rural areas and provide them an opportunity to grow high.
